Work Tab

Rain began falling just before training began at 5:30 a.m. and continued throughout the morning, washing out several scheduled grass works.

Ashbrook Farm and Upland Flats Racing’s Red Carpet Ready worked a half-mile in :48.60 while the main track was still listed as fast.

“I wanted to test her on the grass, and she never has been on it,” trainer Rusty Arnold said of Red Carpet Ready, winner of three of four races including the Forward Gal (G3). “I’m not sure what I am going to do with her. She is nominated to the Appalachian (G2) and the (April 14) Limestone (L) on the grass and the (April 16) Beaumont (G2) on the main track.” …

Susan Moulton’s Andthewinneris, winner of last fall’s Castle & Key Bourbon (G2) here, worked a half-mile in :48 over the fast main track for trainer Wayne Catalano as his final prep for an expected start in next Friday’s Kentucky Utilities Transylvania (G3). …

Trainer Brad Cox worked Transylvania hopeful Wonderful Justice (GB) a half-mile in :49 on the all-weather training track for owner Blue Diamond Stud Farm. Cox’s Toyota Blue Grass hopeful, Verifying, owned by the partnership of Westerberg Limited, Mrs. John Magnier, Jonathan Poulin, Derrick Smith and Michael Tabor, worked 5 furlongs in :59.40.

Cox postponed a scheduled grass work for 2022 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) winner Caravel, opting to gallop over the training track where a work is tentatively scheduled for Saturday. Owned by Qatar Racing Limited, Marc Detampel and Madaket Stables, Caravel is expected to make her 2023 debut in next Saturday’s Shakertown (G2).
