HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – LSU Stables’ Far Bridge returned from a nearly six-month layoff to win the $225,000 Pan American Stakes (G3) on a turf course he covets.
The 6-year-old horse improved to a perfect 5-for-5 on the Gulfstream Park turf course with his second straight win in the Pan American, barely getting past frontrunning Corruption nearing the wire to prevail by a neck.
Ridden by Flavien Prat for trainer Miguel Clement, Far Bridge hugged the rail for most of the 1 ½-mile turf stakes before angling to the outside at the top of the stretch and running down Corruption, with Echo Lane taking third.
“We found ourselves in a good spot and he gave me a good run,” said Prat, who was aboard the horse for the first time.
When Far Bridge won last year’s Pan American, he was saddled by Miguel’s father, Christophe, who died two months later.
Far Bridge proved himself one of the nation’s top distance turf runners in 2025, winning the Man O War (G2) and Bowling Green (G2), both in New York, in addition to the Pan American.
“Last year started off a great season and we’re hoping for the same this year,” said Miguel Clement.
With Saturday’s victory, Far Bridge surpassed $2.5 million in career earnings.
Sent off as the 6-5 favorite, Far Bridge was guided toward the rail, allowing him to save ground throughout.
Corruption, on the other hand, was guided along the lead by jockey John Velazquez and put up a determined effort to the wire before eventually being overtaken by Far Bridge.
“I was a bit worried about my draw (post position 7) being on the outside,” Prat said. “But we found a good spot and he gave me a good run.”
Far Bridge completed the trip in 2:23.51.
