TRF Press Release
Saratoga Springs, NY — The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) is proud to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors: Dr. Megan Knoell and Donald Little, III. Both bring deep industry knowledge, professional expertise, and a shared commitment to the welfare and future of Thoroughbred horses.
Dr. Knoell is the founder of Knoellwood Equine and has dedicated her career to providing individualized equine care with a focus on general medicine, geriatrics, and sports medicine. A graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, she is also certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and Equine Spinal Medical Manipulation through Chi University. Her longstanding involvement with equine rescues and sanctuaries, including the TRF, reflects her passion for Thoroughbreds and their dignified lifetime care.
Little currently serves as Vice President of Sales at Centennial Farms, continuing a family legacy deeply rooted in the Thoroughbred industry. A graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in Economics, he has built experience across sports, technology, marketing, and sales, including roles with the Boston Bruins. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Belmont Child Care Association.
“Being able to join the TRF board is a wonderful opportunity to help with the ongoing challenges of thoroughbred retirement. A long-standing organization like the TRF is the perfect place to make a difference in both the lives of horses and humans. Having grown up in the equine industry, I have been blessed with many experiences with retired thoroughbreds, some even at home on our family farm. I hope to bring a fresh, energetic outlook to the TRF while keeping its mission central to my goals.” said Donald Little, III
“We are thrilled to welcome Megan and Donald to the TRF Board of Directors,” said Maggie Sweet. “Their professional expertise, industry insight, and passion for Thoroughbred aftercare will be invaluable as we continue advancing the TRF mission and expanding our impact nationwide.”
