OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Sunday’s card at Belmont at the Big A will be bolstered by a double Pick 6 carryover of $39,250 after the multi-race wager went unsolved for the second consecutive day on Saturday’s 11-race program.

The $1 Pick 6 returned $2,869 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.

Saturday’s sequence kicked off in Race 6 as Mommy’s Turn [No. 3, $6*] prevailed in a 1 1/16-mile inner turf maiden for state-breds with Jose Lezcano up for five-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer Chad Brown.

Lezcano doubled up in Race 7, the $150,000 Listed Elusive Quality over the outer turf, as My Boy Prince [No. 10, $17.60] produced a prominent score for Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse.

Hatch [No. 6, $70.50] provided the biggest upset in the sequence, scoring as the 34-1 longest shot on the board in Race 8. Omar Hernandez Moreno engineered the upset for trainer Eduardo Jones in the six-furlong claiming sprint.

In Race 9, a one-mile allowance optional-claimer over the inner turf, Scarlet Poppy [No. 4, $6.80*], with Adam Beschizza up for trainer Wesley Ward, rallied strongly through the final turn and staved off a late bid by Awesome Czech to secure the win.

The Christophe Clement-trained Deterministic [No. 3, $6.20*] made every pole a winning one under Kendrick Carmouche, posting a course record performance in the featured Grade 2 Fort Marcy, a nine-furlong outer turf test for older horses in Race 10.

With the carryover already confirmed in Race 11, a six-furlong claiming sprint, Prince of Joy [No. 6, $32.40], with Christian Maragh in the irons for trainer Ricardo Legall, turned back the onrushing Honorary Degree to notch a 15-1 upset.

Sunday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 5 at approximately 2:59 p.m. Eastern and includes a trio of Grade 3, $175,000 events in the Vagrancy [Race 7], Beaugay [Race 8] and Westchester [Race 9]. First post for the 10-race card is 1:10 p.m.

Great story Jon. I've read it before and it was nice to refresh my memory. No doubt Past The Wire is in my view The best thoroughbred racing channel and website on the internet. Thank you for creating and maintaining it.
