ARCADIA, Calif. — With no winning tickets in Sunday’s $2 Pick Six at Santa Anita, a double carryover of $153,104.78 will be up for grabs when racing resumes Friday with a nine-race card starting at 1 p.m. PT. Additionally, there is a carryover of $27,023 in Friday’s Super High 5, which will be offered on the ninth race.
The Pick Six Friday will start with the fourth race at approximately 2:30 p.m. PT. Track officials expect the entire pool to exceed $750,000. Prior to scratches, the sequence averages 8.3 starters per race.
Sunday’s Pick Six, which started with $36,681.65 in carryover money, had two winning favorites and three winners paying over $20. Helping to spur the carryover into Friday was Red On Sunday, trained by Peter Miller, who won the opening leg under apprentice Serafin Carmona and paid $24; Tecumseh Caroline, who won the seventh race for trainer Phil D’Amato with Antonio Fresu aboard and paid $21.40; and Schilflied, trained by Patrick Gallagher, who scored in the nightcap with Juan Hernandez up and paid $24.60.
The consolation payout Sunday with 5-of-6 winners was $2,771.80.
The winning horses in Saturday’s Pick Six beginning with the third race were #7 Red On Sunday ($24), #8 Uncle John ($5.60), #4 Maximus ($9.20), #4 Lil Richards Bello ($6), #2 Tecumseh Caroline ($21.40) and #11 Schilflied ($24.60).
