New sponsor for Keeneland Stakes during Fall Meet

Keeneland Release

LEXINGTON, Ky.– Keeneland today announced that Dean Dorton, a nationally recognized advisory firm that began in Lexington and has headquarters here, is the new sponsor of the $250,000 Myrtlewood Stakes to be held Friday, Oct. 24 on the penultimate day of the Fall Meet. The 17-day season runs Oct. 3-25.

The Dean Dorton Myrtlewood is a 6-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies named for the Racing Hall of Famer and important broodmare. In October 1936 during Keeneland’s inaugural race meet of nine days, Myrtlewood won three races, including taking the Ashland Stakes by 12 lengths.

“Partnering with Keeneland, one of the most iconic and community-centered institutions in the region, is a meaningful way to honor our legacy and celebrate our continued growth,” said Elizabeth Woodward, Director and Lexington Market Leader of Dean Dorton. “Just as Myrtlewood’s bloodline shaped such horses as Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew and leading sire Mr. Prospector, we aim to help shape the future of our clients through insight, innovation and strategic vision.”

“With its deep roots in Lexington and commitment to excellence, Dean Dorton is a like-minded partner,” Keeneland Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Christa Marrillia said. “We look forward to strengthening our relationship and collaborating on events that bring together Dean Dorton’s clients, team members and community partners in a uniquely Keeneland setting.”

Great show Jon. Love the format. Brief rundown on each horse without too much BS and in bullet format.
