After spending most of the spring and summer off, Collected is on his way back to the races. Last seen finishing 7th to Gun Runner in the Pegasus World Cup, he rejoined Bob Baffert’s barn at the beginning of August. Collected spent a short time galloping before posting six workouts in total – at distances of 3, 5, 6, and 7 furlongs.
Collected will make his seasonal return in the Derby Champion Stakes on Pennsylvania Derby Day at Parx. He will be making the journey east with fellow Baffert trainee McKinzie, who will be contesting the Pennsylvania Derby. Both Collected and McKinzie are coming off the layoff but are expected to be ready to run. The Pennsylvania Derby and Derby Champion Stakes are on Saturday September 22.
