ARCADIA, Calif. — Following a win in the Melody of Colors Stakes last month at Gulfstream Park, Cloe comes west for trainer Jose D’Angelo seeking a first win at the graded level in Sunday’s Grade III, $100,000 Senorita Stakes for 3-year-old fillies sprinting about 6 ½ furlongs on Santa Anita hillside turf course.

From the first crop of classic winner Tiz the Law, Cloe went gate-to-wire under Luis Saez when winning the Melody of Colors going five furlongs on turf March 23 in South Florida. The victory came in her start for the D’Angelo barn. Previously trained by Victor Barboza, Cloe was a debut winner sprinting 5 ½ furlongs on synthetic at Gulfstream Park in January. She then suffered her only loss in three starts in the Suncoast Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs when switched to dirt and stretched out in distance Feb. 5. In the Suncoast going one mile and 40 yards, Cloe prompted the early pace before weakening to sixth in an eight-horse field.

Cloe has banked $107,140 for owner Lugamo Racing Stable. She will again have Saez in the irons.

Amorita cuts back in distance for trainer Richard Mandella after finishing second in the China Doll going a mile on turf in her stakes debut March 23 at Santa Anita. In the China Doll, Amorita set the pace under Juan Hernandez before being run down in mid-stretch by winner Will Then.

By Liam’s Map, Amorita is 6: 2-1-0 with $93,660 in earnings for owners Augustin Stables and Stone Farm.

Jungle Peace makes her stakes debut for trainer Phil D’Amato. Imported from Europe over the winter, where she was winless in two starts, Jungle Peace appears to have found a home in California. In her U.S. unveiling in February at Santa Anita Jungle Peace earned her diploma going 6 ½ furlongs on Santa Anita’s flat turf course. She then came right back to clear her first-level allowance condition going six furlongs on turf at Santa Anita on March 9. Both wins came under Umberto Rispoli, who again has the call.

By Bungle Inthejungle, Jungle Peace has an overall record of 4: 2-0-1 with $78,906 in earnings. She is campaigned domestically by CYBT, McLean Racing Stables, Jerry McClanahan, Michael Nentwig and Jeremy Peskoff.
