(Versailles, Kentucky – June 16, 2021) On June 10, 2021, Tropical Racing and Circle 8 Ranch, in partnership with Sandlot Racing Stables and Mad Hansen Racing, acquired two new horses out of the 2nd race at Churchill Downs. All Eyes West (Street Sense / Minds Eyes, by Macho Uno) and Scabbard (More Than Ready / Cowgirl Mally, by Gone West) will transition from Kentucky to California in the next couple of weeks.
California’s lucrative incentives make racing in the Golden State more desirable for outside horses – specifically the Ship and Win Program offered at Del Mar. This program provides owners who bring in out-of-state runners to race at Del Mar a $4,000 starter bonus for their initial outing with a further 50% purse supplement for all dirt starters and a 40% purse supplement for all races run on turf. The purse bonuses extend to additional starts at the summer meet and are designed to enhance all purses won by 1st through 5th finishers.
Because All Eyes West and Scabbard made their last start outside of California, they are eligible for the Ship and Win Program incentives and will participate in the summer meet that starts July 16 and ends September 6, 2021.
“We are very excited to expand operations into California with the acquisition of these two exceptional athletes with Sandlot Racing Stables and Mad Hansen Racing,” said Troy Levy. “The incentives at Del Mar are impressive so it makes sense for Tropical Racing and Circle 8 Ranch to expand our reach to the west coast.”
