Circle 8 Ranch and Haras Doña Icha partner on the 3-year-old Strong Mandate filly – Broken Dreams – to train and campaign in the United States.

Versailles, Kentucky, USA – (October 7, 2020) Troy Levy announces he has entered into a partnership with Chile’s Haras Doña Icha to race Broken Dreams (Strong Mandate – Fleetful Cat, by Van Nistelrooy) in the United States. The 3-year-old Strong Mandate filly has arrived in Florida and is with Circle 8 Ranch Trainer Michelle Nihei at the Palm Meadows Training Center in Boynton Beach. Broken Dreams ­­– who is out of the Van Nistelrooy mare Fleetful Cat has won both her starts in Chile.

Haras Doña Icha was the winter home forThree Chimneys Farm’s Strong Mandate, where he produced three crops, including Top Queen (Strong Mandate – Top Attraction, by Giant’s Causeway) – the Gr. 1 Arturo Lyon Classic winner who beat La Poetisa (Empire Maker) by 5 ¾ lengths. He also sired Sesenta y Medio (Strong Mandate – War Defense, by War Chant) who recently placed an impressive second in the 159-year-old Gr. 1 Clásico El Ensayo this year. Strong Mandate is the sire of five 2019 stakes-winners in his second crop, including Gr. 2 winner Free Mandate (Strong Mandate – Treccia Bianca, by Ivan Denisovich) in Chile, and Maryanoginger – a $190,000 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July yearling who broke her maiden in the $150,000 Astoria Stakes at Belmont Park in her first career start.  

Currently, Haras Doña Icha is the winter home for WinStar Farm’s Exaggerator – the millionaire son of Curlin and the first to stand in South America.

Fleetful Cat (Van Nistelrooy – Peppy Priscilla, by Latin American), who won her Maiden Special Weight in her first attempt, has produced four winners out of four starters as a broodmare. Van Nistelrooy was an impressive $6.4 million yearling purchase at Keeneland. He was also a precocious two-year-old. After winning his Maiden Special Weight in his first attempt, he went on to win the Flame of Tara Tyros Stakes in his second race, the Gr. 2 Galileo E.B.F. Futurity Stakes in his third race, and then placed second in the Gr. 1 Aga Khan Studs National Stakes in his fourth race, and third in the Gr. 2 Hackney Empire Royal Lodge Stakes in his fourth race.

Strong Mandate, by Champion sire Tiznow, posted a record of 2-1-1 in eight starts with earnings of $529,566. He won the Gr. I Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga as a 2-year-old, and at three finished second to Tapiture in the Gr. III Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park, and third in the Gr. I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, to New Year’s Day and Havana. His dam is the Millionaire and three-time Gr. I winner Clear Mandate.
