LEXINGTON, Ky.—The third session of the 2025 Kentucky October Yearlings sale was conducted Wednesday at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Kentucky. Through three days of selling, this year’s edition of the sale continued to post results trending upwards from last year’s record-breaking renewal. The session gross was $19,546,500, exceeding the previous single-session record gross set on Monday.
A colt by Candy Ride (ARG) (hip 843) topped the third session when sold for $850,000 to DJ Stable from the consignment of Gainesway, agent (video). The chestnut colt is out Unrivaled Princess (Tapit), a daughter of multiple Grade 1 winning millionaire Unrivaled Belle and a full sister to twice champion and millionaire Unique Bella. Hip 843 was bred in Kentucky by Liberty Road Stables.
“It was a fantastic day,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “There were dramatic increases in the average price and gross sales. Great trade and great activity, great energy throughout the day. It’s fun selling in a marketplace like it is right now.”

A colt by Good Magic (hip 1143), sold for $550,000 to Mahmud Mouni from the consignment of Woods Edge Farm, agent. The bay colt is the first foal out of the Bernardini mare Carats and Cake. The immediate family includes Grade 2 winning millionaire Lewis Bay and graded stakes winners Misconnect, Winslow Homer, and Lost Raven. Hip 1143 was bred in Kentucky by Woods Edge Farm.
A filly by Nyquist (hip 861), sold for $500,000 to Mayberry Farm from the consignment of Blandford Stud (Padraig Campion), agent. The bay filly is out the Violence mare Violencia, who has produced three winners from as many starters to date, including winning two-year-old of this year. Hip 861 was bred in Kentucky by Manitou Farm.
A filly by Justify (hip 897), sold for $500,000 to Trade Winds Farm from the consignment of Darby Dan Farm, agent. The gray or roan filly is the second foal out of multiple graded stakes placed stakes winner Winter Sunset (Tapit), herself a daughter of multiple Grade 1 winning millionaire Winter Memories. Winter Memories is in turn a daughter of course record setting multiple Grade 1 winner and millionaire Memories of Silver. Hip 897 was bred in Kentucky by Phillips Racing Partnership.
A colt by Justify (hip 1122), sold for $460,000 to Mahmud Mouni from the consignment of Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa, agent for Coteau Grove Farms. The chestnut colt is out of the To Honor and Serve mare Call to Service, whose two winners to date include three-times stakes winner The Wine Steward (Vino Rosso), who is also Grade 1 placed and multiple graded stakes placed. The immediate family including multiple graded stakes winning millionaire Skelly.
Browning added, “I think that you’ve seen the result of both buyers and sellers having more confidence in the Kentucky October Yearlings sale and the quality that continues to improve year after year after year.”
Through three session, 821 yearlings have sold for $53,177,500, up 25.6% over the three-session running total of 820 yearlings sold for $42,325,500. The running average rose 25.5% to $64,772 over the comparable average of $51,616 in 2024. The median held steady at $30,000 across the sessions, a 50% gain over the $20,000 three-session median of late year. The RNA rate through Wednesday was 19.7%.
