DEL MAR, Calif. (Sept. 7, 2021) — Officials of Breeders’ Cup Limited and PNC Bank announced a multi-year agreement making the official banking service provider and official credit card processor of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships taking place this year in California and in Lexington, Kentucky in 2022.
The Breeders’ Cup World Championships will provide PNC Bank with an array of client and community engagement opportunities at Del Mar and increased visibility as the bank continues to expand its presence in southern California.
“Our partnership agreement with the Breeders’ Cup is the perfect complement to our focus on expanding PNC’s presence across the San Diego market,” said Alan Prohaska, PNC regional president for San Diego. “We’re excited to bring PNC’s Main Street bank approach to our hometown and be a part of the rich tradition and heritage of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.”
PNC Bank will be the title partner of the PNC Clubhouse at Del Mar, which includes exclusive clubhouse signage, logo inclusion on all Clubhouse tickets and a branded photo opportunity for all Clubhouse guests. PNC also will be featured in regular communication with ticket purchasers through a campaign highlighting suggested attire ideas for fans, and will be the presenting partner of a kick-off event welcoming official guests and the community to the World Championships.
PNC also will be an official partner of the Breeders’ Cup Festival, which encompasses a wide array of events and attractions in and around Del Mar to entertain local and international fans during the week of the Breeders’ Cup. Breeders’ Cup and PNC will also collaborate on the “Know Before You Go” campaign, which will keep patrons up-to-date on the latest information on parking, transportation and event protocols.

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships, one of Thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious international events, will be held Nov. 5-6 at Del Mar racetrack in Del Mar, California. The 14 Breeders’ Cup races annually draw the world’s best horses, trainers, and jockeys to compete in the sport’s year-end championship, which will be televised live on NBC and NBCSN.
