This Australian-based horse racing competition is one of the most reputable in the world. The Melbourne Cup is a thoroughbred horse race contested yearly in Melbourne, Australia and takes place as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival and is open to any horses 3 years old and older. The track is 3200-meters long with a long history of worldwide horse racing champions. This competition is 162 years old and has a purse of 8 million Australian dollars.

This horse racing event has one of the biggest purses in the world at 12 million US dollars. Although it was only inaugurated in 1996, it already holds the title of one of the most impressive events globally. It is held annually in the Emirate of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. Its track distance is approximately 10 furlongs and is classified as a Group 1 flat face, with the world’s richest horse racing competition. Depending on the hemisphere, competition horses must be either 3 years old and older or 4 years old and older.

This Louisville, two-week-long event, is an annual horse racing competition held in the Kentucky Derby Festival. The annual Kentucky Derby is held in May and is a Grade 1 stake race with a track distance of 1 and a quarter miles. It is open to any thoroughbred horses aged 3 years old or older. Its purse of 3 million US dollars makes it one of the richest horse race events in the world. Since its opening in 1875, the Derby has commanded respect and admiration in the world of horse racing and training. This competition has witnessed the greatest horses in history, from American Pharaoh to Secretariat.
