‘All Others’ 9-2 Favorite, At Conclusion Of Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool 4

Kentucky Derby Update

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With the Kentucky Derby 11 weeks away, the pari-mutuel field of “All Other 3-Year-olds” closed as the 9-2 favorite in Pool 4 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) and the Bob Baffert-trained San Vicente (Grade II) winner Barnes was the 8-1 second choice.

Barnes also closed as the favorite in Pool 2 (13-1) and Pool 3 (6-1).

Other horses who attracted interest from bettors: Baffert’s 2-year-old champion, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (GI) and Robert B. Lewis (GIII) winner Citizen Bull (9-1); Holy Bull (GIII) winner Burnham Square (15-1); Southwest (GIII) runner-up Sandman (16-1); Street Sense (GIII) winner Sovereignty (17-1); Breeders’ Futurity (GI) winner East Avenue (18-1); and Los Alamitos Futurity (GII) winner Journalism (19-1).

Total handle for the Feb. 14-16 KDFW pool – the fourth of six scheduled wagering pools in advance of the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (GI) on Saturday, May 3 – was $412,766 ($319,881 in the Win pool and $92,885 in Exactas) – a 1.1% increase from last year’s $408,422 ($309,393 in the Win pool and $99,029 in Exactas).

Through the first four pools, a total of $1,253,931 has been bet on Derby future wagers, a 2.9% jump from last year’s $1,218,084.

Inaugurated in 1999, the Kentucky Derby Future Wager has been offered for a 27th consecutive year.

Other Future Wager dates are set for March 14-16 (Pool 5) and April 3-5 (Pool 6). Pool 5 will include the Longines Kentucky Oaks Future Wager.
