Neolithic breaks his maiden at second asking Dec. 12, 2015, at Gulfstream Park (Coglianese)

As my passionate followers (who we affectionately call ‘Edgies’) know, everything that I focus on is done through the lens of Two-Year-Old Maiden Special Weight racing. Hence, when I analyze sires, I study only the performance of the sire himself as a 2YO along with his son’s and daughter’s race record while juveniles. I let others discuss the results of the sire’s older runners.
Neolithic is by the speedy Harlan’s Holiday out of a precocious Victory Gallop mare who broke her maiden as a juvenile and added a stakes win while still a baby.
He was foaled in 2013 and ran twice as a 2YO impressively breaking his maiden in his second start in December 2015 going One & 1/16th miles on the dirt at Gulfstream Park posting a fantastic 103 Equibase Speed Figure for trainer Todd Pletcher.
Neolithic began his stud duties in 2018, so through 2024, he has had four crops to race. All told, he has seen his offspring compete in 72 2YO MSW races in North America with 15 of his babies visiting the Winner’s Circle. This gives him an incredible win rate of 20.8% which squarely places him at the Elite level (note, compare him to Into Mischief from 2020 thru 2024 = 17.2%, Not This Time = 19.9%, Nyquist = 18.4% and Tapit = 15.5%).
And he seems to only be getting better as he puts more juveniles on the track in the afternoon. In 2024 he had his best year ever with the babies – seven scores in 23 2YO MSW races (30.4%) with five of his seven wins coming at Gulfstream Park. Included in these victories were two wins on the turf.
Neolithic stands in Morriston, FL at Pleasant Acres Stallions. His advertised 2025 Fee of $5,000 looks to be a bargain. He is certainly an exciting sire to watch for this year.
