Audible took the Florida Derby in style and looked very sharp. He has gotten all the raves out of the race. I was more impressed with second place finisher Hofburg.
Hofburg making only his third start jumped from a maiden win into the Grade 1 Florida Derby and you can say was thrown to the wolves. Despite a wide trip and being a tad green in the stretch, Hofburg finished a game 3 lengths behind Audible.
Audible was coming off a win in the Holy Bull and had significantly more seasoning than the runner up. Going forward and as they stretch out in distance Hofburg looks to me to be more dangerous and have more upside. I am not taking away from the winner or his effort, just looking ahead.
