Always Shopping Heads 2019 Black Eyed Susan Stakes

May 13, 2019

Repole Stable’s Always Shopping, who broke her maiden in stakes company, heads a field of nine probable starters in the $250,000 2019 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (Grade 2) at Pimlico Race Track on May 17 in the test for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/8 miles.

Always Shopping, trained by Todd Pletcher, will try to make it three in a row after taking the Feb. 3 Busanda Stakes and April 6 Gazelle Stakes (Grade 2), both 1 1/8 miles at Aqueduct.

Todd Pletcher said;

“This seems like a natural progression for her. She’s improved each spot, and two turns and 1 1/8 miles seems to suit her well. Everything has gone well for her since the Gazelle.”

The probables for the 2019 Black Eyed Susan Stakes are:

  • Sweet Diane, Jose Ortiz, Eddie Kenneally
  • Off Topic, John Velazquez, Todd Pletcher
  • Ulele, Joel Rosario, Brad Cox
  • Cookie Dough, Irad Ortiz Jr., Stanley Gold
  • Our Super Freak, Trevor McCarthy, Jamie Ness
  • Always Shopping, Manuel Franco, Todd Pletcher
  • Brill, Florent Geroux, Jerry Hollendorfer
  • Point of Honor, Javier Castellano, George Weaver
  • Las Setas, Jevian Toledo, Katharine Voss

Good Work here, particularly this, which is being missed by many with good intentions. Folks wanting racing to end aren't getting messages that matter to them. Thanks.
