A Bounty of Saturday Stakes and Kentucky Derby Points

March 27, 2021

A buffet of stakes, including one from Jeff Ruby Steaks with 170 Kentucky Derby points, are offered up this weekend with All-stakes ten-race card at Aqueduct and a 14-race card with ten stakes, six graded, at Gulfstream Park including the Grade I Curlin Florida Derby Presented by Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms at Xalapa, also worth 170 Ky. Derby points. Check out all of the action below.

The Derby leaderboard got shaken up after last weekend with Hot Rod Charlie moving way ahead with 110 points, thanks to his Louisiana Derby win, followed by Midnight Bourbon with 66 and Greatest Honour with 60. Right behind is Mandaloun with 52 and are Concert Tour, Helium and Weyburn tied with 50 points each. Greatest Honour starts in the Florida Derby and has a chance to pick up some major points.

There are six more Derby prep races, five in the U.S. and one in Europe, four carrying major points. We won’t know who’s going to the big show until the last race has run.

One of the best articles on the state of emergency of our industry. Hits the nail on the head. If we want to save racing we must band together and actively work to save it. If we want the industry to die...we can continue with what we're doing.
