Go Otto Go an easy winner of his debut (Coady Photography)
Churchill Downs, Race 2 – 05/25/2023

CD1:051923 – Steve Asmussen got his photo taken in the Winner’s Circle with #1 Go Otto Go after he easily polished off the field by four ‘easy as can be’ lengths. The Bolt d’Oro colt was making his first appearance in the afternoon. He broke fairly well and Florent Geroux was content to let him stalk in second down the backstretch before shifting out moving into the turn to pass #2 Suga Steve. From there, the rest of the guys could only see his tail end as he hit the wire in 59.04 seconds which equated to an EBSF of 74. We picked Go Otto Go when he was 4/1 on the morning line, but clearly word got out that we were touting him and he ended up paying $5.96 for his $2W backers. #3 Beaudacious Colton made a bit of a move on the turn to finish an unthreatening second and #9 Liberal Arts did some running late to pass some tired puppies and checked in third. Learnings – You gotta take note when mom was such a good race mare, especially when she was a winner first out at 2YO at none other than Saratoga. Additionally, this dude had showed that he possessed speed in the bullet work that he had put forward three weeks ago.
Alright, let’s build off this winnah and work to get one more on Friday and another on Saturday. Smile – this is lots of fun – and the hits just keep on coming. A big thank you to you all for listening to my musings.
