The field for the 2017 Pegasus World Cup has come together. As originally suspected, but subsequently speculated over, all 12 slots appear to have been filled.
Some on the surface don’t look like they have the resumes to compete in the first running of the richest horse race, but we all know that is why they run the race. I have speculated over whether Arrogate will be coming myself, but after his last work it looks like he is indeed headed for the gate and a rematch with California Chrome.
This is what the field currently looks like, not in post position order as we are still a long way from the draw.

Surprisingly, even though the race is on dirt, is the absence of any significant European or Japanese entrants. I’d have thought for $12 million we’d have seen a few surprises from overseas. Not so.
