Keeneland Catalogs 1,401 Horses to 2024 January Horses of All Ages Sale

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Keeneland has cataloged 1,401 horses for the 67th January Horses of All Ages Sale, which will cover four sessions from Jan. 8-11, 2024. Click here for the catalog, which features broodmares and broodmare prospects, newly turned yearlings, horses of racing age, stallions and stallion prospects.
Print catalogs for the January Sale are scheduled to arrive in the mail the week of Dec. 18.
“The January Sale offers a variety of breeding and racing opportunities at all levels of the market for horsemen who operate domestically and internationally,” Keeneland Vice President of Sales Tony Lacy said. “With a selection of quality broodmares and broodmare prospects, the auction will appeal to breeders preparing for the upcoming breeding season. The short yearlings on offer will appeal to pinhookers and end-users alike, and horses of racing age will interest owners and trainers making plans for their racing stables.”
Premier offerings in the January Sale catalog include:
Hidden Connection, a daughter of Connect whose five graded stakes performances include a 9¼-length romp in the Pocahontas S. (G3). Offered as a racing or broodmare prospect, she is consigned by Hidden Brook, agent.
Parnac (FR), winner of the 2023 Flower Bowl S. (G2) and a stakes winner in Germany. The daughter of Zarak (FR) is offered as a racing or broodmare prospect, she is consigned by Lane’s End, agent.
Pipit, a filly by Quality Road who won the Victoria S. (L) and was second in the Algonquin S. (L) at 2 this year. She is offered as a racing or broodmare prospect and consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa, agent.
Prank, a daughter of Into Mischief who is a half-sister to Belmont S. (G1) winner Mo Donegal and won her career debut at Saratoga by an impressive 9¾ lengths. Consigned by Gainesway, agent, she is offered as a broodmare prospect.
Star Act, a daughter of Street Cry (IRE) who is the dam of Just F Y I, undefeated winner of this year’s NetJets Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) and Frizette S. (G1). Star Act is offered in foal to Just F Y I’s sire, Justify, and is consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa, agent.
The January Sale catalog includes mares in foal to such prominent stallions and popular young sires as American Pharoah, Army Mule, Authentic, Bolt d’Oro, Candy Ride (ARG), Constitution, Epicenter, Essential Quality, Flightline, Girvin, Good Magic, Hard Spun, Jackie’s Warrior, Justify, Life Is Good, Mandaloun, McKinzie, Munnings, Nashville, Nyquist, Olympiad, Practical Joke, Quality Road, Tapit, Twirling Candy, War Front and Yaupon.
Sires of yearlings in the catalog include American Pharoah, Authentic, Candy Ride (ARG), Charlatan, Complexity, Constitution, Curlin, Ghostzapper, Good Magic, Gun Runner, Justify, Knicks Go, Maclean’s Music, Maxfield, McKinzie, Munnings, Not This Time, Nyquist, Omaha Beach, Quality Road, Silver State, Tapit, Twirling Candy, Upstart, Vekoma, Volatile, War of Will and Yaupon.
Among the horses who were offered as yearlings at the January Sale are these Grade 1 winners of 2023: Carson’s Run (bet365 Summer S. at Woodbine), Defining Purpose (Central Bank Ashland at Keeneland), Saudi Crown (Pennsylvania Derby at Parx) and Sibelius (Dubai Golden Shaheen Sponsored by Nakheel at Meydan).
Additional graded stakes winners this year who were yearlings at the auction include Grade 2 winner Dr. Schivel (Santa Anita Sprint Championship Presented by Estrella Jalisco) and such Grade 3 winners as Commissioner King (Saudi Derby Presented by Boutique Group), Danse Macabre (Herecomesthebride S.), Foreign Relations (Louisville S.), Il Miracolo (Smarty Jones S.), Poppy Flower (Intercontinental S.) and Roses for Debra (Caress S.).
Safeen, who won the 2024 Pucker Up S. (G3), sold as a 2-year-old at the January Sale.

Book 1 – Monday-Tuesday, Jan. 8-9.
Book 2 – Wednesday-Thursday, Jan. 10-11.
