OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Sunday’s card at Aqueduct Racetrack will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $24,978 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Saturday’s nine-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $756.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Saturday’s sequence kicked off in Race 4 as Heavyweight Champs [No. 4, $12] prevailed in a six-furlong New York-bred allowance sprint with Romero Maragh up for trainer Rudy Rodriguez.
One Vision [No. 2, $12.80] followed in Race 5, a state-bred maiden claiming sprint, with Omar Hernandez Moreno at the helm for trainer Oscar Barrera, III, one race before Paula’s Star [No. 2, $5.40] scored in a maiden special weight sprint in Race 6 for jockey Madison Olver and trainer Tom Morley.
In Race 7, a state-bred allowance sprint, La Banquera [No. 4, $4.80*] proved best with Jose Lezcano aboard for trainer Linda Rice ahead of the biggest upset in the sequence when Ridgewood Runner [No. 10, $39.20] showed the way under Kendrick Carmouche for trainer Carlos Martin in an optional-claiming sprint in Race 8.
With only the 3-5 favorite Vekinda covered in the Race 9 finale, a state-bred maiden special weight, Skytown [No. 9, $14.40] triggered the carryover by staving off the mutuel choice for jockey Katie Davis and conditioner John Terranova, II.
Sunday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 3 at 2:08 p.m. Eastern. First post on the eight-race card is 1:10 p.m.
