A jockey was arrested on the morning of November 6th in San Juan Puerto Rico where he allegedly had discharged an AR-15 in front of the Federal Court building and proceeded to fire additional shots near the Telemundo facility located in Hato Rey.

Jomar Garcia Guzman was arrested after the incident in which several shots were fired at the intersection of Jose Oliver Street and Chardon Avenue located between 24 Market Place and the Federal Courthouse. Guzman was also found to be in possession of a Glock model 27 40mm pistol. My sources have reported that the serial numbers were altered on one of the guns making the charges even more severe.

Racing under the name of Jomar Garcia at Parx, he was at one point 8th in the standings. Jomar was also credited with the maiden breaking win on Spun To Run on January 19th 2019, who went on to win the Breeders’ Cup Big Ass Fans Dirt Mile going wire to wire with Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard.

Jomar Garcia was most recently riding at Camarero where he last raced on November 3rd with 3 mounts that day. Garcia according to Equibase has ridden 4,535 races in his career as a jockey with 658 first place finishes with lifetime of 7.6 million in earnings and 1.3 million of that inside of 2019. Jomar Garcia is scheduled to ride additional mounts at Camarero however he has been replaced on all mounts since this incident.
