LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Just two weeks remain until Jeff Ruby Steaks Day at Turfway Park Racing & Gaming and on Friday the nominations to all six stakes events on the card, headlined by the $700,000 Jeff Ruby Steaks (Grade III), were released here: Jeff Ruby Day Stakes Nominations.
The 53rd running of the Jeff Ruby Steaks, a “Championship Series” event on the Road to the Kentucky Derby, will be the featured event on the stakes-filled card that also includes the $300,000 Bourbonette Oaks (Listed) on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks; the $300,000 TwinSpires Kentucky Cup Classic (GIII), the $250,000 Latonia Stakes (Listed), the $250,000 Animal Kingdom Stakes and the $250,000 Rushaway. Entries for the 12-race card will be taken Saturday, March 16.
The 1 1/8-mile Jeff Ruby Steaks, which fielded 103 nominations, is expected to include El Camino Real Derby winner and runner-up Endlessly and Tapalo; Iroquois Stakes (GIII) winner West Saratoga and former $1.2 million purchase Tennessee who’s undefeated at Turfway Park.
Other potential entrants to the Jeff Ruby Steaks currently include Le Gris, Moonlight and Mugatu.
Jeff Ruby Steaks Day will feature an early first post of 12:45 p.m. for the 12-race program. General admission tickets are $20 and limited seating remains in the Jeff Ruby VIP Ballroom at $399 per ticket which includes an all-you-can eat buffet catered by Jeff Ruby Steakhouse, a premium open bar and a 2024 Jeff Ruby Steaks Day hat and rocks glass.
