1. Purpose
The Past the Wire Gambling Hall of Fame recognizes extraordinary gamblers, wagers,achievements, careers, and contributions to the culture of gambling.
The Hall of Fame is created, owned, and administered by Past the Wire.
2. Nominations
Anyone may nominate anyone, including themselves.
Nominations may involve horse racing, sports betting, casino gambling, poker, contests,prediction markets, investing, speculation, or any other legitimate form of wagering orrisk.
No claim is too unusual to submit. Every nomination, however, is subject to verification.
When someone nominates another person, Past the Wire will not publish the nominationor publicly identify the nominee until Past the Wire has contacted the nominee and thenominee has agreed to be considered. A nominee may withdraw at any time beforeinduction. This does not apply to honorary nominees whose achievements are already amatter of public record.
3. Vetting
Past the Wire may examine tickets, account records, published selections, contestresults, photographs, videos, interviews, social-media posts, witness accounts, and anyother relevant evidence.
Past the Wire may investigate, question, accept, reject, or decline any nomination at itssole discretion, and may publish or discuss a nomination subject to Section 2.
A nomination may be rejected if the claim cannot be reasonably verified, containsmaterially false information, or does not meet the standards of the Hall of Fame.
Account statements, tickets, tax forms and other private records provided for vetting areused only to verify the claim. Past the Wire will not publish wagering amounts, accountbalances, account activity or other private financial information without the nominee’sexpress consent. Account numbers, Social Security numbers and similar identifiers willnever be published.
4. The Committee
Nominees who survive the vetting process may be presented to the Past the WireGambling Hall of Fame Committee.
The Committee will be announced separately.
Committee members will consider the difficulty of the wager or achievement, the oddsovercome, the reasoning involved, the significance of the moment, the quality of theevidence, and the nominee’s broader impact on gambling.
A Committee member must disclose any family, financial, business or employmentrelationship with a nominee, and must recuse from that vote. A Committee member maynot vote on his or her own nomination.
5. Election
Induction requires approval from at least 75 percent of the Committee members voting.
Voting may be conducted privately. Individual votes need not be disclosed.
The Committee is not required to induct any person in any given voting period.
6. Honorary Inductees
The Committee may elect honorary inductees whose courage, vision, innovation,influence, or historic impact helped shape gambling culture.
An honorary inductee need not qualify through a single documented wager.
7. Founding Inductees
Individuals designated before the adoption of these bylaws constitute the founding classof the Past the Wire Gambling Hall of Fame.
All subsequent inductees will be selected under the standards and voting proceduresstated here.
8. Submission Rights
By submitting a nomination, the submitter confirms that the information provided istruthful to the best of their knowledge and that they have the right to provide allsubmitted words, photographs, documents, recordings, and other materials.
The submitter assigns to Past the Wire all rights the submitter lawfully owns in the writtennomination and grants Past the Wire a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use,reproduce, edit, publish, distribute, display, archive, and create content from all submittedmaterials, in connection with the Hall of Fame and Past the Wire’s coverage of it.
This grant covers the submitted materials only. It gives Past the Wire no right to use thename, image or likeness of any person, including the nominee, beyond what Section 9provides. Private records submitted for vetting remain governed by Section 3.
Past the Wire owns all Hall of Fame profiles, articles, interviews, videos, graphics,programs, and other content it creates from or in connection with a nomination.
Submission does not guarantee publication, nomination, election, compensation, or induction.
9. Nominee and Inductee Consent
Consent to the use of a nominee’s or inductee’s name, photograph, likeness, voice andbiography is given voluntarily, in writing or on the record during an official Past the Wireinterview.
That consent covers the Hall of Fame and Past the Wire’s coverage, programs, archivesand promotion of the Hall of Fame.
Past the Wire will not license, sell or provide an inductee’s name, image, likeness or voiceto any third party for that party’s advertising or promotion without the inductee’sseparate written consent.
Nothing in these bylaws asks any nominee or inductee to waive claims for defamation,invasion of privacy or misuse of identity.
10. Interviews and Induction Content
Inductees may be invited to appear on a Past the Wire program and participate in anofficial induction interview.
At the start of each official induction interview, the inductee will be asked on the recordto confirm consent to Past the Wire’s use of the interview as described in Section 9.
Past the Wire retains all rights to the programs, recordings, profiles, promotionalmaterials, and other content it produces in connection with the Hall of Fame.
11. The Hall of Fame Name
The names “Past the Wire Gambling Hall of Fame” and “Gambling Hall of Fame inductee,”and the Hall of Fame’s logos, plaques, induction footage and graphics, belong to Past theWire.
No wagering operator, sportsbook, advance deposit wagering company, sponsor or otherbusiness may use them, or refer to any person’s induction, in advertising or promotionwithout Past the Wire’s prior written consent.
Inductees may always describe themselves as inductees in their own personal, non-sponsored communications.
All Hall of Fame profiles, articles, interviews, videos, photographs, graphics and othercontent are protected by copyright. “Past the Wire Gambling Hall of Fame” is a trademarkof Past the Wire.
Any unauthorized use of Hall of Fame content or marks is prohibited, including any usesuggesting that Past the Wire or the Hall of Fame is affiliated with, sponsors or endorsesany product, service or business. Past the Wire reserves all rights and remedies availableunder copyright, trademark and other applicable law.
12. Revocation
Past the Wire may suspend or revoke an induction if material information is later provenfalse, fraudulent, misleading, or inconsistent with the integrity of the Hall of Fame.
Before a revocation vote, the inductee will be notified in writing of the grounds and givena reasonable opportunity to respond.
Revocation requires approval from at least 75 percent of the Committee members voting.
13. Independence
No sponsor, advertiser, wagering operator or business partner of Past the Wire may payfor, influence or veto any nomination, vote or induction. Sponsorship of Past the Wire orthe Hall of Fame never affects eligibility or selection.
14. Administration
Past the Wire may interpret, amend, or update these bylaws when necessary to protectthe credibility, fairness, and integrity of the Hall of Fame.
Amendments are published on this page with their effective date. Material changes takeeffect no sooner than 30 days after posting. No amendment applies retroactively torevoke an existing induction or to expand Past the Wire’s rights in materials alreadysubmitted.
All eligibility, vetting, voting, publication, and induction decisions are final.
