Enable made mincemeat out of the best Europe had to offer in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with a burst of speed reserved for the last 400 meters that left her rivals gasping. She spurted away under Frankie Dettori leaving little doubt she was truly special and as good a racehorse as advertised.
John Gosden has himself one nice filly here. In her wake were Idaho, Winter and Ulysses amongst others.
The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe was run at Chantilly this year while Longchamp is being renovated and Dettori gave the filly as good a trip as a rider can from a wide draw around the tight Chantilly turns. Enable has been in hard training and racing for 10 months and while she is scheduled to race at four, she is not scheduled to head to the states for the Breeders’ Cup.
She handled the mile and a half with ease, disposed of the boys, and looks like she’d give Winx or just about any other turfer all they could handle.
As exciting as it is to watch her run, anticipating her as a broodmare is equally interesting. Being a Juddmonte homebred dates in the breeding shed with both Frankel and Arrogate also Juddmonte horses is very likely. The best horses money can’t buy.
