The Belmont Stakes is one of the most popular horse racing events in terms of online gambling. The event comes after the Preakness Stakes and is the third leg of the coveted Triple Crown.

This year’s tournament will be held at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York, on June 11. The legendary horse racing event will be held for the 154th edition this year. Since the odds are already published, we’ve chosen to reveal the top picks for the 2022 Belmont Stakes.

Each day, the number of choices for placing bets on horse racing expands. However, it’s still crucial to remember business fundamentals: choose a firm that you can trust and support.

On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, the morning-line odds will not be released until the afternoon, soon after the announcement of the participating horses and the drawing of their postpositions.

As the day of the final draw approaches, it hasn’t stopped oddsmakers from changing their forecasts and even swapping in a few surprises.

The current odds for the 2022 Belmont Stakes favor Mo Donegal, but you should not ignore the other top candidates. It includes Rich Strike, the winner of the Kentucky Derby 2022, who at the time was also a long shot to win.

Early Voting won the 2022 Preakness Stakes, yet he is conspicuously missing from the 2022 Belmont Stakes field. His trainer indicated that he needs to be assessed to find an appropriate race to run in next.

Belmont Stakes 2022 Favorites

Before making your betting selections for the Belmont Stakes, you should evaluate and consider every horse participating, including the favorites.

We’d like to present you with an analysis of the top contenders and an assessment of their possibilities of victory.

Mo Donegal

  • Trainer: Todd Pletcher
  • Age: 3
  • Notable Wins: 2022 Wood Memorial Stakes and 2021 Belmont Maiden Special Weight

Mo Donegal has excellent acceleration and fights until the finish of the race. He was sixth in the Kentucky Derby, but he won the Wood Memorial on April 9 by a narrow margin against Early Voting.

Note: Mo Donegal’s trainer, Todd Pletcher, also works with Nest, another thoroughbred horse participating in the 2022 Belmont Stakes. He is recognized as one of the best trainers of all time, having prepared past Kentucky Derby and other notable race winners.

Even though he has a solid position in the betting markets, Mo Donegal will need to improve at Belmont based on his past performances this season.

Mo Donegal still has a lot to show after a lackluster performance in the Kentucky Derby and missing the Preakness Stakes.

We The People

  • Trainer: Rodolphe Brisset
  • Age: 3
  • Notable Wins: 2022 Optional Allowance Claim, 2022 Peter Pan Stakes

We The People is another contender that fascinates many because of his familiarity with Belmont Park. He completed a half-mile on the Belmont main track in 48.39 seconds in preparation for the race. In addition, he has won three of four career races.

Note: Rodolphe Brisset, originally employed by Bill Mott, is one of the most well-known assistants in horse racing. Winning the 2022 Belmont Stakes might help him secure his legacy and advance his horse training career.

That is surely doable with a horse like We The People. A huge victory in the Belmont Stakes is the next important stage in the horse’s upward trajectory.

Rich Strike

  • Trainer: Eric Reed
  • Age: 3
  • Notable Wins: Kentucky Derby in 2022

Rich Strike is undoubtedly on everyone’s radar, despite not being the favorite to win the race. After unexpectedly winning the Kentucky Derby, he will be put to the test once again.

Eric Reed did not register the thoroughbred for the Preakness Stakes. It was decided to quiet him down and prepare him well for the next race.

Note: Rich Strike is no longer capable of achieving the Triple Crown. The short but necessary rest, on the other hand, might assist in accelerating the thoroughbred horse to another great triumph.

Sleepers for 2022 Belmont

The 2022 Preakness Stakes sleepers should also be considered. These horses can defy the odds. Here are some other thoroughbreds to consider.

Nest: After numerous excellent 2022 performances, we predict Nest to do well at Belmont. The thoroughbred trains with race favorite Mo Donegal.

Creative Minister: It won an allowance race on the Kentucky Derby undercard and might win this year’s event. Until April, he never left the maiden rank.

Ethereal Road: It has a lot of momentum after winning Sir Barton Stakes, 2022. First victory since January.

Note: Don’t ignore sleepers after Rich Strike’s Kentucky Derby win. We recommend analyzing all 2022 Belmont Stakes contenders.

Prediction of Top Contenders

Mo Donegal

Mo Donegal finished sixth in the Kentucky Derby, behind a group of four powerful horses. In his first five races, the horse trained by Todd Pletcher achieved three victories and two third-place results. One of these triumphs was at April’s Wood Memorial Stakes.

The three-year-old was not entered in the Preakness, so he has not been racing since the Kentucky Derby, when he did not have the luck in the post-position draw.

He began the race from the pole position but got off to a poor start, which pushed him behind for the remainder of the competition.

Nevertheless, there is reason to assume that Mo Donegal will do considerably better in the Belmont. Notably, he has had some success at Belmont Park in the past, having competed there twice last year and achieving a win and a third-place result.

Although Rich Strike and others will be a challenge, he should be up to the task, particularly if he draws a favorable post and gets out to a solid start. This year, he is the early favorite to win in Elmont, New York.

Prediction: Mo Donegal will win the Belmont.

Rich Strike

Rich Strike may have had the highest odds to win the Kentucky Derby out of the 20 horses, but that will not be the case at the Belmont.

The colt’s incredible run through the field to win the Run for the Roses on May 7 demonstrated his ability, and he will likely be among the top favorites for the last leg of the Triple Crown.

Rich Strike might be the early favorite when odds are announced, depending on which horses are entered in the Belmont. The colt trained by Eric Reed has finished in the top three in five of his last seven races, and he might place at Belmont Park.

Rich Strike did not enter the Preakness after his Derby victory. Therefore, he has had plenty of time to prepare for the Belmont.

Rich Strike has just two victories in his history, and despite the absence of Early Voting and Epicenter, he will face formidable opposition in the Belmont Stakes.

So, the prediction is that Rich Strike will perform well but will fall short of a second consecutive win.

Prediction: Rich Strike will finish in the top three

Creative Minister

Creative Minister did not compete in the Kentucky Derby, but he was present at Churchill Downs the weekend of the event and won an allowance race on Derby’s undercard. The decision was then made to enter him into the Preakness.

Although he did not win at Pimlico Race Course, the three-year-old performed well. He finished third after Early Voting and Epicenter. According to trainer Kenneth McPeek, none of these horses will be in the Belmont, where Creative Minister is expected to compete.

Before the Preakness, Creative Minister had won or placed second in each of his previous three races. However, he lacks significant experience, so he may be challenged in the one and a half mile Belmont by some horses who ran in the Kentucky Derby but not the Preakness.

So, don’t be shocked if Creative Minister ends outside of the money. It seems doubtful that he will finish in the bottom three, but he will likely finish outside the top three.

Prediction: Creative Minister will finish no better than fourth.

@jonathanstettin in the @PastTheWire seminar you told us a horse "Obviously" needed a cutback, and would be an "obvious" winner. Great Call!
