Kaitlin Free is considered to be one of the most well versed women in pedigree and bloodstock. She is self taught and has studied the thoroughbred industry since her early teens. She frequently attends the sales and if she isn’t able to make it you can find her streaming the sale online. Kaitlin also has extensive knowledge of the international racing circuits. Racing all over the globe is no stranger to her, even developing racing countries like Saudi Arabia and Korea. She has spoken in several podcasts and university seminars regarding racing outside of North America. Kaitlin is planning to make her first trips to tracks outside of the United States in 2020.
Kaitlin was born and raised in Ohio. She became interested in racing as an early teen after watching her mother’s side of the family race harness horses. She got her first horse in high school and began to pursue a future in the sport. Originally, Kaitlin wanted to be a jockey, but changed her mind a couple years later after sustaining a severe head injury while riding. She received a degree in Equine Health and Business instead, planning to work as a bloodstock agent, stallion manager, or even an on-air host. Kaitlin’s first serious job in racing was writing and reporting for Past the Wire. She currently still works with Past the Wire as well as Key Account Management at TVG.
Kaitlin resides in Los Angeles, California with her fiance Caleb and their cat Storm Cat. When she isn’t at the track or work she can be found enjoying a baseball game or laying on the beach.
