He brought Cupid back from a layoff to win The Gold Cup at a mile and a quarter avoiding a heated pace he was expected to be a part of. Bob quickly credited being stabled near Charlie Whittingham in his early years at Santa Anita with helping him learn how to get a horse to go a distance off a break.
